Faces
Fictura can detect faces in your photos and let you organize your library around the people in it, using local, on-device face detection — nothing is sent to an external service, consistent with the app's local-first design (see Getting Started).
How faces get detected
Face detection can run automatically during import or sync if enabled in Settings, finding and marking faces in your photos without any manual work on your part. If you'd rather not run it automatically on every import, leave it off in Settings and it simply won't process new photos until you decide to enable it.
Reviewing and naming people
The Faces view lets you:
- Review every face detected across your library in one place.
- Confirm or correct groupings — merging faces that are actually the same person into one group, or splitting a group that got two different people lumped together incorrectly.
- Name a person once, and use that name from then on to browse every photo they appear in, across your entire library.
Finding this view
Faces is a secondary screen, reached from Settings rather than the main sidebar, since it's more of a setup/maintenance task you'll revisit occasionally than something you use every session the way you would the Media view.
Privacy
All face detection and matching happens locally on your machine — no photo data, face data, or matching results are ever sent anywhere else, the same guarantee that applies to every AI feature in the app.
