Browsing Your Library
The Media view is the first screen you see after setup and the home base for everything else — a contact-sheet grid of every photo, video, and audio file in your library.
Browsing
- Scroll through the grid, which loads efficiently even for large libraries by paging in thumbnails rather than loading every full-resolution file at once.
- Switch between grid and detail layouts depending on how much information about each item you want visible at a glance — grid for scanning quickly, detail for checking metadata without opening each item.
- Click any item to open its full viewer. Photos and videos open with direct access to the editor; audio opens into a player with a waveform display.
Filtering and sorting
- Filter by media type (photo, video, audio), by date taken, and by tags.
- Sort by date, filename, or other available metadata columns.
- A dedicated Portfolio filter shows only items you've flagged — see Portfolio for how that flag works.
Selecting and acting on media
- Select one item or many (shift-click / ctrl-click ranges and multi-select, same as a desktop file browser) to batch-act on them at once.
- From a selection, add everything to a collection in one step, send the selection to Export, or use other bulk actions exposed in the selection toolbar.
- Each individual item's context menu gives quick access to the same actions without first making a multi-select.
Where things come from
Everything in this grid arrived either through Import (new files brought in from disk or a device) or through Sync (repairing/reconciling files already tracked in your library against what's actually on disk). If something looks missing, moved, or out of place, Sync's path-repair tools are almost always the fix — see Sync for exactly how that repair process works.
