Edit without fear — every version is safe
Edit fearlessly. Nothing is ever lost.
Every edit is a save, never a rewrite
Adjust exposure, color, tone curves, LUTs, and noise reduction from one panel, and every change is saved as a new version — your original and every prior version stay intact. Undo isn't a history stack you can lose; it's a version you can always restore.
Non-destructive by design, not by accident
Built this way so nothing is ever destructive
Filters are stored as parameters, not baked into pixels, so a v001 baseline always exists underneath whatever you've done since. That's the whole design philosophy behind the edit pipeline: you should be able to experiment freely because you can never actually lose the shot.
Real-time previews. Real results.
See the real result, live, on your own GPU
Previews render through the same GPU-accelerated pipeline as the final export, so what you see while dragging a slider is what you get — no low-res proxy, no waiting for a cloud render to catch up.
Editing Overview
Fictura's editor is non-destructive: every adjustment you make is stored as a parameter, not baked into your pixels or audio samples, so you can always come back and change your mind — or restore the untouched original — without any loss of quality.
Opening the editor
Open any photo, video, or audio item from the Media view to bring up its modal viewer. From there, open the editing panel to start adjusting.
- Photos and video share the same underlying filter pipeline — 44 filters covering tone, color, blur/sharpen, repair, geometry, and creative effects. See the full Image Filters Reference.
- Audio has its own effects chain of 23 filters covering restoration, dynamics, normalization, EQ, creative effects, and utility tools. See the full Audio Filters Reference.
How the panel works
The editing panel is a stack of filters/adjustments applied in order:
- Add a filter from the available list to apply a new adjustment.
- Reorder filters by dragging. For image/video filters, category (tone, then color, then geometry, then creative effects) determines actual render order regardless of how you stack them — see the Image Filters Reference for the full ordering rule. Audio effects, by contrast, apply in exactly the order you stack them.
- Toggle any filter on or off without removing it, so you can A/B compare its effect instantly.
- Remove a filter you no longer want.
- Edit as JSON — every filter's parameters can also be hand-edited as raw JSON for precise, reproducible values. See Filter & Condition JSON Editor.
Changes preview live, GPU-accelerated, as you adjust — nothing is committed to disk until you save.
Saving your work
Edits aren't permanent until you save them as a version. This is what lets you keep multiple distinct edits of the same source file and always get back to the original. See Versions for the full save/restore/lock model.
