Group photos, video, and audio into collections by shoot, client, or project — dragging items in takes seconds, and any file can belong to as many collections as makes sense, with no folder-tree gymnastics.
Group without duplicating a single file
A collection is a view, not a copy
Collections reference your existing files instead of duplicating them, so reorganizing your library never doubles your disk usage or risks the two copies drifting apart. It's the same non-duplication principle that runs through the rest of Fictura.
Collections
Collections group photos, video, and audio together by however you actually think about your work — a shoot, a client, a project, a theme — without duplicating a single file on disk. A collection is just a named set of references to items already in your library.
Creating and managing collections
From the Collections view:
- Create a new collection and give it a name.
- Browse existing collections in a grid or list layout, whichever suits how many you have.
- Search across your collections to find one quickly once you have more than a handful.
- Rename a collection or delete it entirely — deleting a collection never deletes the media inside it, only the grouping itself, so nothing you've imported is ever at risk from reorganizing.
Adding and removing media
- From the Media view, select one or more items and add them to a collection in one action — an item can belong to any number of collections at once, so a single photo can live in a client collection, a "best of the year" collection, and your Portfolio simultaneously.
- From inside a collection, remove items you no longer want grouped there without affecting their membership anywhere else.
- Autocomplete/multi-select pickers make it fast to assign media to a collection directly from inside the photo/video/audio viewer modal, without navigating away from what you're looking at.
Tag-based browsing
Beyond manually created collections, you can browse media by tag, letting you cut across collections to find everything sharing a label regardless of which collection(s) it's actually grouped into — useful for cross-cutting concerns like "black and white" or "client X" that don't map cleanly onto a single collection.
